Feeding your adult dog

When your dog reaches one year of age it is time to move on to Petsmill Premium Adult Dog food. It is important to remember to change your food over from puppy to adult gradually to ensure that delicate stomachs are not upset. Detailed information on this can be found here.

Step 1. Using the table for the flavour of food you are going to feed, select the relevant weight for your dog in the column – this is the ideal weight that your dog should be. If you are unsure of this, please ask your vet.

Step 2. The row adjacent to this is the recommended daily amount to feed. The feeding amount is given as a total daily amount, so will need to be divided between the two meals your dog is having per day.

Petsmill measuring cup Step 3. Once you have determined how much to feed, weigh this amount out and place in a Petsmill cup. Use the guide lines to mark how much of the cup is filled. You can then fill up to this line each time you feed your dog, saving you having to weigh it out each time.

Remember to also monitor the amount you feed your dog over its lifetime using the body condition scoring system.
